Issue 2 of Carbon Nation contains an exclusive interview with Colin Edwin. It includes topics such as:
On Steven Wilson's bass playing:
"He's got this really old bass he bought years ago that he uses for his demos. It's pretty bad actually! There's a couple of occasions where I couldn't get a sound as bad as that! Sometimes there are sounds that have a lot of character because they're low fi and there's a few tracks I think that he ended up playing on just because I couldn't get that kind of sound. It wasn't part of my thing, but that's fair enough. He comes up with some good ideas for lines and things."
On the work in progress new album:
"Well it's difficult to know how it's going to turn out. Steve's pretty eclectic. So I think what you'll end up with is not what it is at the moment. He often has a really definite idea, but then I've found that he often changes his idea half way through so I think he's very keen for us to get together and write some stuff together."
On playing live with the current PT line-up:
"There are some things that work better now than they did before. Although it's not a favourite Dark Matter definitely sounds better when we do it now than when we used to do it. It could be because of Wes as well, having somebody else do the extra guitar parts."
All this and much more in the full interview!
