Issue 4 of Carbon Nation contains an
exclusive interview with Steven Wilson. It includes topics such as:
Whether Steven is worried about Deadwing being
labelled a concept album:
Not really because it isn't. A concept album to a lot of
people means an album that tries to tell a story and has a narrative through
it, this doesn't. A concept album in the sense of Tommy, The Wall or
Quadrophenia where you actually get told a story in sequence, this is not.
Whether a film of Deadwing is feasible:
It's certainly feasible. I wouldn't have spent that much
time on it if
I didn't think it was. It's not a particularly high budget film in the
sense that it's not got lots of special effects and explosions and stunt
scenes. It's a very claustrophobic, dreamlike, melancholic film.
It's not commercial. It wouldn't have mainstream appeal, no, it would
be more of a kind of European arthouse thing.
All this and much more in the full interview!
